THE NORTH FACE (M)

THE NORTH FACE (M)

The Eiger is one of the most treacherous of all Alpine peaks. In 1936, with Nazi propaganda and the ethos of Aryan physical attainment rife, the nation’s youth are urged to conquer on its near-vertical unclimbed route. Toni and Andi accept the challenge and the conditions endured by the pair simply defy belief. In German, Swiss German, French and Italian with English subtitles, The North Face is an action-packed, compelling and extremely well-crafted film.

THE SICILIAN GIRL (M)

THE SICILIAN GIRL (M)

In 1991 Rita Atria visited anti-Mafia judge Paolo Borsellino to denounce the Mafia system responsible for the murder of her father and brother. It was the first time that a woman from a Mafia family broke the villagers' code of silence, turning state witness. Inspired by a true story, this is Italian cinema at its finest. The Mafia lifestyle of the period is powerfully portrayed, recounting a major turning point in Sicily’s war against organised crime. The Sicilian Girl is presented in Italian with English subtitles.
